Experiments

Apparae runs your business as a series of small, written experiments. This is the Lean Startup method: instead of guessing, state what you believe, test it cheaply, and decide from the result.

The loop

  1. Hypothesis. On Monday the CEO picks the week's experiment and writes it as a testable statement, including the result that would count as success.
  2. Assign. The CEO hands the work to the right agents. For example, the CMO runs a channel test and the CFO checks unit economics.
  3. Run. The agents do the work during the week. A mid-week check-in on Wednesday can unblock the team or change direction.
  4. Verdict. On Friday the CEO reads the results and issues one of three verdicts.

The four things being validated

  • Urgent problem with a willing buyer - does someone have this problem badly enough to pay?
  • Right channel - can you reach those people at a sensible cost?
  • Right solution - does your product actually solve it?
  • Unit economics - does the money work out?

The three verdicts

VerdictMeaning
PERSEVEREThe evidence supports the current direction. Keep going.
PIVOTThe evidence says change something specific, such as the customer, channel or offer.
PACK IT INThe evidence says stop this idea.

Learning from every week

After the verdict, the Chief Learning Officer writes up what was learned, and those lessons are given to the agents at their next turn so mistakes are not repeated.
